Hi everyone. Welcome to MisplacedItems. Excuse the dust while we're getting settled in. We're going to go through lots of changes in the first few months of Mechscapes release. Hopefully, by the time Mechscape is out of beta, we'll have all the available information that you need.

MisplacedItems was developed by Misplacedme, a former crew leader of Tip.It. As such, the site is going to have a crew structure much like Tip.It. There will be a dedicated group of crew members whose task is to update the site with information they have gathered through personal research in game and user submissions. Under normal circumstances, staff members will be hired based on recommendations from current staff members, as well as occassional recruitment drives. As we don't have any staff members at the time, let's hold a recruitment drive!

The first position that's open is Item/Monster Db Crew. There are 6 positions open. Your job will be to update the monster and item databases with information from in game or from user submissions. You will have access to a few pages within this site that will allow you to easily add, edit, and update ntries. This position will be more focused on in game research. You should be able to gather as much information about an in game item and present it in a manner that is easily understandable to a large audience. You won't need to know very much html because the site automatically formats 99% of the information. For the other 1%, you need to know basic html tags, such as how to bold, italicize, and create lists. This position will be split into two groups. One group of 4 will focus primarily on the item database. The other three will be focused on gathering information on monsters. However, both groups will have access to the other section. This is because monster drops come from the item database. We don't want you to be unable to update a monster because the item crew hasn't added an item you need yet.
Skills needed

  • Basic html: For minor formatting of text
  • Basic image editing: Know how to crop and transparenfy an image
  • Researching: It will be humanly impossible to obtain all information for all monsters and items by yourself. You must be able to take other people's information and verify its truthfulness

The next position open is Guide writer. There are 4 positions available. Your job will be to create and manage guides that other players will use in their journeys in the game. There will be many types of guides.
Skill guides: These guides will be used by players who are looking for various methods of training a skill. You will research every possible method of gaining experience in a skill and write a guide grouping each method and explaining it to a user.
Mini game guides: These guides will explain the mechanics of the various mini-games and "distractions and diversions" that jagex has placed in the game. You will explain the basic rules of the game, tactics, and rewards.
General guides: These guides are where general information will be put. A good example is the Beginner's guide located on Tip.It. It gives an overview of controls and rules that a user will need.
Generally, the creation of guides will be a collaboration between the guide crew. One person may research a specific section of the guide, update it, and pass it to the next person who will add their section to it.
Skills needed

  • Moderate understanding of html: You will need to understand how to create tables, use images, and use basic classes to format information.
  • Basic image editing:Know how to crop and transparenfy an image
  • Researching: We don't expect the crew to have maxed out stats. So, being able to gather information from various sources will be helpful.
  • Proofreading: An important part of the guide collaboration is the peer review. You will need to be able to spot spelling and grammar mistakes in the guide and fix them.
  • Writing: These guides will be read by many other people. You must be able to express your thoughts well. Your wording should flow from section to section and be easy to understand.

Also available are 2 positions for mappers. Your task will be to take the huge world and divide it up into sections and mark important places on them. A short writeup will be included with the maps.
Maps will be Skills needed

  • Advanced Image editing: You must have photoshop or another program that edits .psd files. You must know how to manage layers, merge multiple images together, and create eye catching graphics.
  • Basic html: You will need knowledge of basic html formatting for the short writeups.

The final position available is the website designer. As you can see, this site currently has a very basic, and very unpretty design. We need one designer who will create a new design. Specifics will be discussed among the crew. In some cases, the discussion will be expanded to include the members of the site.
